This project involved designing and building an automatic raw stock feeding system to simultaneously load and unload multiple unfired (green) ceramic pieces into a grinder. Ceramic only gets its strength when it is fired in a kiln, so ceramic parts in their green state are very fragile and need to be handled with kid gloves. A slight drop or bumping into each other can chip or break the parts. A mechanical comb would slide the parts in from the inclined gravity fed tray.
